If you were getting bored of the same dating haunts in 2012, why not start off 2013 by checking out some of the country’s newly opened hotspots or trying your hand at a completely new activity? With its constant growth and development there’s always something fun to try out in the UAE.
The Ritz Carlton Abu Dhabi
Set to open early this year, the spectacular new Ritz Carlton hotel is a great spot for an overnight romantic break. Even if you just fancy a great meal, the hotel is home to a fantastic new Lebanese restaurant.

Wild Wadi Adventure
You’ve done the water parks, now it’s time to step it up a notch with at Wild Wadi Adventure. Located in Al Ain, you can try your hand at surfing, kayaking, zip lining and white water rafting. The perfect date for adrenalin junkies, why not make the most of the winter sun with some water sports?
Horse riding
Sporty types should definitely give horse riding a go this year- it’s a great activity for couples. Available at the Al Sahra Equestrian Centre at Dubailand, you can also make it a family day out with the children if you’d prefer.

Laughter factory
If you fancy having a giggle with your man, head to the Laughter Factory in the Marina for some light-hearted comedy. An excellent idea for a first or second date, you can road test his sense of humour straight away.
Eastern Mangroves
Opened last year, the Eastern Mangroves in Abu Dhabi is a beautiful secluded hotel for a long weekend away. Boasting an infinite pool with incredible views, everything from the food to the service will impress you. Make sure you check into the spa and spoil yourself with a Turkish bath.

The Archive
Culture buffs should head out on a date to The Archive in Safa Park, the new art library in Dubai. Packed with books on Arabic typography, calligraphy, fashion and art, it’s a chance to immerse yourself in local history and get a real feel for the Middle East. They also organise events including sports and dance classes for those feeling a bit more active.
Arabian Nights Heritage Village
A desert camp with a twist, the newly opened Arabian Nights Heritage Village boasts stunning luxury encampments in the middle of the romantic desert. You can choose from dune bashing, sand bashing and quad biking in the day before relaxing in the evening with a few drinks to watch the sunset.
