Cure sun damage

Experts from Laboratoire Bioderma have warned of the dangers of sun damage to the skin and urged women to protect themselves and their family against over exposure as the summer months approach.
Sun exposure and UV rays cause significant structural damage to DNA, which accelerates skin ageing.
What is the UV Radiation?
UV rays (also known as UV radiation) are invisible rays that come from the sun. UV radiation that reaches the earth’s surface is made of two different types of sun-rays: UVA and UVB. UVA rays penetrate deeper than UVB rays into the skin.
Both radiations cause skin cancer and maturation of the skin.
Top tips to avoid sun damage
Avoid exposure to the sun when UV levels are at their highest, between 9am – 3pm.
Protect yourself by wearing a hat, sun protective clothing and sunglasses when you are outdoors.
Apply a sunscreen with SPF of minimum 50+ all year round and re-apply every two hours. Remember that UV radiation can scatter and reflect off surfaces like water, sand and concrete, so wear sunscreen even when you are in the shade.
Never expose yourself to the sun after applying scented products, which could produce blotches, allergies or burns.
Beware of the sun’s effect on acne as it will re-appear even stronger than before. Apply sun protection specifically for acne prone skin.
Protect your skin by applying sun protection specifically for hyper-pigmented skin, as exposure to sunlight may cause or worsen brown spots.
Protect your family
Wise up to sun damage Young children’s skin is more vulnerable to damage from sun exposure than adults. That’s why it’s important for parents to include sun protection in their child’s routine from the very beginning.
Never deliberately expose them to direct sunlight. Always try to keep babies and toddlers in the shade. Drape a cloth over the stroller if necessary. Ensure they wear a wide brimmed hat and a shirt with sleeves.
Use children’s sunscreen with SPF of minimum 50+ on all exposed areas. Re-apply sunscreen at least every 2 hours.
Sunscreen is safe to use on babies. However, some children with very sensitive skin may develop irritations from some sunscreens. Should this occur, simply try a sunscreen specifically formulated for children.
Choose the right SPF for you
Fair skin, freckles, red hair – always subject to sunburn
 Sunlight Exposure – SPF 100
Light skin, blonde – frequently subject to sunburn
 Sunlight Exposure – SPF 50+ to 100
Light to medium skin – easily tans and subject to sunburn during intense exposure to sunlight
 Sunlight Exposure – SPF 50+
Dark brown to black skin – easily tans and never burns
 Sunlight Exposure – SPF 30 to 50+
 Laboratoire Bioderma products
Bioderma is the first independent dermatological laboratory whose dermo-cosmetic products are among the most frequently prescribed by dermatologists. Working in close partnership for more than 25 years with researchers from INSERM, the CNRS and University Hospitals, Bioderma provides concrete and efficient responses to all skin problems.
Developed exclusively by the Laboratoire Bioderma for its sun care range, the Cellular Bioprotection patent is a perfect example of Bioderma’s belief.
The Cellular Bioprotection patent offers a unique expertise in the sun care market: protection of the cells.
Its complex combines two active ingredients that act straight into the heart of the cell:
Ectoin, a molecule that protects cell structures with an anti-stress action.
Mannitol, a sugar extracted from manna trees that traps free radicals.
Together, these two active ingredients help reinforce the skin’s own natural defense for better cell protection.
They protect Langerhans cells. These essential sentinel cells trigger the immune system’s alarm during sun exposure. Thanks to the patented natural Cellular Bioprotection complex, 96% of these cells are preserved within the epidermis and 92% of their functionality is protected against UV ray damage.
They boost HSP synthesis (HSP: Heat Shock Proteins). These fire-fighting proteins react to the warmth of the skin, protecting and repairing cells.
They protect cellular DNA from damage caused by UV rays.
Exclusive Bioderma filtering system + Cellular Bioprotection® patent = 99.6% DNA protection.
